Wind,
Keening in my ears
Snow,
Whirling around me,
Racing by me,
Coming down from somewhere above me
Bright, white, and pure
But bitter, cold, and angry
This is the nature of beast
That has be caught between its paws
Somewhere ahead of me
There is a light that calls me
It beckons me nearer
It promises warmth
It promises me safety
But as I run to it
It fades away
One step forward,
One step backward,
And inside I know
I will never reach it
But foolishly, I pursue it still
And farther my spirits fall
Shall I ever reach the light?
The light that I so crave
It seems not
For as I run,
It fades
And by the time I get to where it was
There is nothing at all
Nothing but the snow,
The snow that envelopes me now
Darkness, like the freezing gale
Comes to take me away
And instead of holding on
I let it take me where it may
