I sighed. Nothing to do. Only a few rats scurried around. We were all here, stuck in this 'Freebies' group. We would always be stuck here. I remember the day I got adopted, I was a newborn. Grown into a healthy puppy, and soon, into an adult. My fur was a dull gray with a few light gray stripes.
I was only about a month old, but I was already labeled, useless. My brothers and sisters had white and black fur, and one of my sisters had crystal blue eyes and pure white fur. She is still in the Newborns section, the owner waiting for her to grow up.
Just my luck that four of my siblings looked exactly like me. All but one were put into the Adoption Center. A place targeted for newbies who didn't know our worth. At first, it was a new adventure! Almost fun.
Purple, my sister, left with a nice owner who would defintely keep her safe for a while. The same thing happened to Rose, and Eugiene, and Ollie. I waited for the same to happen to me.
But, it didn't happen. The only thing I earned were looks of disgust and shaking heads. Most people will glance at me before continuing on. Soon, all of the pets from a few years ago were taken. I still stayed there. By then, my true worth showed up. A common.
A few other dogs, some from a few months ago, sat around me. We don't talk. We don't want to get attached to each other, only to be taken away later. If we were ever taken away. I sat here, rotting away.
Nothing happened. A few more owners came, and took a cute rat with them. We all just stayed there. Pretty soon, buisness slowed, and nobody came around at all. No new pets came into the Adoption Center, and no pets left.
I sighed. A few pets wondered what happened, but I knew what happened. It was one of the horror stories I have heard as a puppy. Our owner, has quit.
They decided to leave us to rot, for real. Now, we just stand here. A lonliness consumes us. I looked to the others joined with me. A few rats in the corner and one PPS who happened to be a 'OMG-SO-COMMON.'
We were stuck here, now with absolutely no escape. At the most luck, our owner would come back in a few years and trade us off. So, all we can do, is wait.
And wait.
And wait.
